The Coca-Cola Co. challenged us to manage and create a global World Cup campaign featuring docu-style web films and TV commercials in conjunction with their sponsorship of the World Cup Trophy Tour over a 10 month period.
The brand had an over-arching campaign idea, but no agency assigned to execute and develop the creative.
Driver synthesized and managed a global production team over a 10 month period that included directors, production companies, editors, music houses, casting directors, location scouts, etc across Brazil, Turkey, Germany, Ecuador, South Africa, and Myanmar which coincided with Coke’s sponsorship of the World Cup Trophy Tour.
Driver worked directly with Coke’s global team to find and develop the most compelling stories for the documentary web films and TV commercials. Driver ultimately delivered 5 x 2 mins web films and over 10 TV commercials.
Driver business affairs provided seamless oversight on all budgets, cost estimates, vendor contracts, invoices, and talent payments.
A powerful global campaign delivered Coke’s message flawlessly to millions.
The brand realized significant cost savings as a result of no agency and Driver’s production management oversight.
Coke received high praise from consumers and the international community on their heartfelt campaign that coincided with their World Cup Trophy Tour.
Constellation Brands had a creative idea but no agency to launch Modelo Especial into the US General (English speaking) market.
How to create high production value/high creative value content with no agency?
Driver’s Executive Producers, producers, creative director/writer, and business affairs team prepared creative, budgets, and schedules for all while constantly keeping the brand in the loop and delivering brand feedback into the creative production process.
Driver brought in and negotiated deals with key vendors to work with in-house staff based on deep relationships: directors, production companies, editorial, VFX, animation, graphics, music.
Driver’s business affairs team managed all backend payments and accounting from vendors to talent.
Brand had a very successful launch into the US General market.
The experience was rated as a new high bar in excellence by the brand.
The brand had significant cost savings.
Moms who purchase PlayDoh products for their kids were not being engaged by traditional media.
Brand desired a content campaign highlighting the value and fun behind Mom’s spending time playing with Play Doh with their kids.
Driver conceived an authentic campaign highlighting the virtues of Moms using using PlayDoh with kids. We cast actual mom Vloggers playing with their kids.
Content was filmed on-location to increase authenticity with Vloggers speaking in their own authentic voice.
Driver’s content strategy team leveraged Vlogger’s social networks to deliver content: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Driver’s media buying team worked closely with content strategy to amplify the campaign.
Driver’s creative and editing team re-packaged the content into both :60 second and :30 second spots that were delivered as commercials.
1.7 million views of authentic content across social media with multiple lengths tailored to the platform. (YT, FB, Instagram, etc).
Content was re-edited into :30 and :60 commercials for a pre-roll buy.
All content owned and controlled by the brand.
The all-in price of the campaign for content and the media was less than 50% of the cost of a standard television commercial.
Thomas & Friends was unable to reach kids online in the same targeted manner they had been able to reach them on cable.
Further, when people searched on Youtube for Thomas content it was other non-official content that was winning search.
Thomas had effectively lost control of their content and was losing money online.
Driver created “The Thomas Content Creator Collective” (TCC). Until this time it had been a loose agglomeration of fans who sometimes made variable quality content and posted on their YouTube Channels.
Driver reached out to the biggest home creators of Thomas Content and built a controlled and scalable production team with them.
Driver, in collaboration, with it’s TCC team writes and discusses the upcoming ideas and scripts for Thomas Series. Members of the team are assigned to shoot sections of the story at their home studio. The final editing, music and look and feel is controlled by Driver.
TCC content wins Thomas Search.
Brand now controls Thomas again as content is viewed on the brand channel.
Content cost of production is a “fraction” of the cost of standard content creation.
TCC content has a higher watch time and higher audience retention than the channel’s traditionally produced content.
